All of the Articles of Faith

http://scriptures.lds.org/en/a_of_f/1

I am not posting them all since they are fairly well known but if you want to see the reference, that is the link. And here are my notes:

2: I am very glad we are not punished for Adam's transgression and I don't get why other churches think that. It's important to say that not all churches believe this, but there are some that do. I can see how they can say that he started it, but it's weird to say that too, was Eve less accountable?

3: We can be saved by obedience through the Atonement. This is a sticky one that other churches don't like! My dad is awesome though and also believes this, he just doesn't know how close his beliefs are to LDS. It's funny.

10: This is a very bold thing to say and I love it. It's a beautiful verse and I am scared for the days leading up to it, but I really hope I can be around when it happens.

11: Acceptance of all faiths and practices, I love this. So many churches condemn what they don't know and I love that we don't. (or at least, aren't supposed to.) Other faiths and denominations have beautiful things they do and I think it's great that it's ok to like it and accept it. I love in particular the different ways the Christmas holidays can be celebrated and want to explore it more. And we can do that according to the dictates of our own conscience. We even have freedom do worship as we feel like we should. If I feel like yoga is a good form of prayer then so be it, I love the freedom in this verse.

12: This verse just got me all riled up... Supporting the law and the government. So here is my rant that only a couple people will read, haha. I spent 6 out of the last 8 years trying to figure out a way to not hate our president because I knew we were supposed to support and sustain him. It took me that long before a wise soul told me how to do it. After all that hard work I put in trying to do it in the last two years, I now hear so many LDS people who are so mad about the new president. I know it's their walk in life and not mine, but it's irritates me that they aren't trying to do what we are supposed to do and I tried very hard and I struggled with it until I understood it. And this is the advice I got: It's ok to not like the president, we are not called to be friends with every being on the planet. But to sustain him I had to realize that there are things that need to be done for the second coming to happen and our leaders play a role in that. God had a need for something to happen and Bush was the man for the job. I don't have to like it, but I need to acknowledge that God is in charge and he chooses our leaders. (Chris, I know you will have something to say about that, but that's what I believe, haha)

13: This is a direct quote from the last one, and it's so beautiful that I will just end with it.

"We follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things"

About Adam and Eve... I'm amazed how much our lives are so much like theirs. Maybe that doesn't make sense, but just break it down simply.

Anytime you read about Adam and Eve try to apply it to yourself more particularly.

Government... that is good advice. It works on several levels. You may not like your parents (not you, Britta, but in general) but you should still uphold them. But I think there comes a point when you have to choose God over any other. Jesus taught a lot of doctrine that went against the current flow of church organization. But he wasn't teaching people to be activists against their leaders.

Hatred against others doesn't make anything better. That's another main goal of Satan. Fear, hatred, even apathy, or no feeling at all. You know a lot more about energy flows and zones in the body. The earth has zones too, I believe. When we love, it is a powerful flow of energy. Hate and envy cause a different flow... it isn't energy. It's like a candle can light up a dark room. But darkness can't darken room. Darkness is the absence of light, not the opposite of light. So, it's more like there's energy and then there's absence of energy... that's an interesting thought (I'm learning as I write :)

It is an interesting thought, but it still seems that just as a bad emotion is energy, and when you release it, you feel the energy release, it seems that hatred would also be energy.

I'm going to try what you said about Eve next time I read about her. Interesting.
