13 And if ye shall say there is no law, ye shall also say there is no sin. If ye shall say there is no sin, ye shall also say there is no righteousness. And if there be no righteousness there be no happiness. And if there be no righteousness nor happiness there be no punishment nor misery. And if these things are not bthere is no God. And if there is no God we are not, neither the earth; for there could have been no creation of things, neither to act nor to be acted upon; wherefore, all things must have vanished away.
This is the verse that popped out to me today while reading this chapter. For some reason it just made more sense today. The part about if you don't believe in God then there is no sin. That's one of the tricks people decide to believe. It's not a sin, I didn't know any better! It got me thinking about my life before the gospel. I was raised to believe in God, but a liberal God who forgave you for everything so it didn't matter what you did. Kind of an "it's easier to ask forgiveness than permission" theory. I did a lot of things our church urges our youth to not do. I know I was forgiven of course.
